Every year, in January, scout troops from all over Western New York compete in the Klondike at Camp Scouthaven. This year’s Klondike was from the 16th of January, to the 18th, and featured many events including fire starting, search and rescue, and, most importantly, the sled race. This year Troop 457 did exceptionally well in all events, sweeping the podium, and winning a total of 5 awards. We were the champions in Search and Rescue, Knot Relay, Fire Starting, and were the Grand Champions. We were also awarded 2nd place in the snowman competition. This Klondike was a great show of how all the scouts in the troop come together to work through things, and come out on top. That is likely the reason we always have so many scouts come to the campout, totaling 10 scouts, and 5 adults this year.
